Cognivo

Roadmap

What is being built next on Cognivo, in order. Plans, not promises; no dates.

Last updated

What's being built next, in the order it's planned. These are plans, not promises, and there are no dates; things move as they're built and tested. When something ships, it moves to the Changelog.

  1. Now

    In progress
    • Learn becomes a course. Every game gets a full course: each topic as a chapter, moves to watch and then try, a short "check yourself" at the end of each chapter, and practice positions. Every answer is checked against the game's real rules. Chess is done; the other games follow, two at a time.
    • Arcade worlds. Ember and Delve each grow to five worlds of ten levels, about 100 levels in all, every one designed by hand and checked to be finishable. The levels are longer and harder but always fair, with checkpoints along the way. The first world of each, with its checkpoints, is done; the next four follow, one game at a time.
  2. Next

    Up next
    • New places and new things. Each world brings its own setting and one or two new ideas:
      • Ember: rain woods, windy cliffs, old town rooftops and ice caves, with falling leaves, gusts, springs, crumbling roofs and icicles.
      • Delve: flooded halls, crystal mines, a fungal grotto and an ancient tomb, with rafts, pressure plates and crates, spore clouds and timed gates.
      • A friendly guide stands at the start of each world.
    • Wordwise, a word and knowledge game for all ages. It has six modes: Root Builder, Spell Doctor, Word Ladder, Clue Trail, Fact Fill and Category Sweep. Age bands go from 6–8 to adult, with topics from animals to space. Every fact comes from a checked, cited source, and AI is only used to word hints, never to invent facts.
  3. Later

    Planned
    • Sharp at any size. Arcade art drawn as shapes rather than pixels, so the games are crisp on 4K and 8K screens. Animation will be made by giving directions such as "bob" or "sway" instead of drawing every frame. A Shape Lab to draw it, with SVG import, and pixel art kept as a style you can switch to.
    • Leaderboards for Endless and Daily, once results can be checked on the server so nobody can post an impossible time.
    • Dialogue Lab and characters to talk to in the arcade games.
    • Logic Lab: doors, keys and switches as settings in a level, rather than code.
  4. Ideas, not yet planned

    Ideas

Quick play with strangers, QR codes for invites, correspondence (slow) games, a daily puzzle for the board games, and installing Cognivo as an app. Tell us what you would like most on Help.
