Cognivo

Cookies & tracking

Every cookie, and what it is for.

Last updated: 4 October 2026. Cognivo is free, and ads shown by Google pay for it. This page lists everything stored in your browser while you use Cognivo: the few things Cognivo sets itself so the site works, and what Google sets for analytics and ads. It also tells you how to say no to each.

In short

  • Cognivo itself sets one cookie, only when you play another person, and keeps your preferences and progress in your browser.
  • Google Analytics counts visits. Google AdSense shows ads, which may be personalised from your activity across sites that use Google's ad services.
  • In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google asks before it stores anything for analytics or ads, and nothing is stored until you answer. Elsewhere they are on by default, and you can turn them off as described below.
  • Nothing on Cognivo needs analytics or ads to work. Blocking them costs you nothing.

Set by Cognivo (needed for the site to work)

These are never shared with anyone and never used for analytics or ads. They need no consent because the site cannot do what you asked without them.

Google Analytics (counting visits)

Used to count page views and see which games and lessons people reach. What comes back to Cognivo is aggregate counts, never who you are. Details are on the page.

Google AdSense (the ads)

Ads on Cognivo are chosen and served by Google, not by Cognivo. Google and its partners use cookies to show ads, to measure them, to limit how often you see the same one, and to prevent fraud. Ads may be personalised: chosen using information about your activity on this and other sites that use Google's ad services. Where you have declined personalisation, or where the law requires it, Google shows ads chosen from the page alone, still with cookies for frequency capping and fraud prevention unless you refuse those too.
